As VoLo Foundation prepares to host Florida Climate Week, its co-founder will also be taking part in New York Cityâs Climate Week.Â
VoLo Foundation announced this week that Thais Lopez Vogel, the foundationâs co-founder and trustee, will take part in a Climate Week NYC session titled “Enhancing Latino Climate and Economic Engagement.”Â
Vogel will be joined in the session by Adam Lake, head of communications for North America at Climate Group, an international nonprofit with a mission to drive action on climate change.
âLatinos are disproportionately affected by climate change, especially in Florida, where rising sea levels, extreme heat and hurricanes devastate the communities we live in,â Vogel said in a statement. âAs we lead the charge in advocating for climate justice, itâs essential that Latino voices shape the solutions that will protect our homes, our families and our future.â
Climate Group hosts Climate Week NYC each year in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly. Billed as the biggest annual climate event of its kind, it brings together “business leaders, political change makers, local decision takers and civil society representatives” to promote climate action.
Running this year from Sept. 22-29, Climate Week NYC includes more than 600 in-person, hybrid and online sessions and activities. Vogel’s session will be held Sept. 24 in person.
