Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Environmental Studies, which manages The Invading Sea, participated in the 15th Annual Southeast Florida Climate Leadership Summit last month at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The summit is hosted by the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact, a partnership between Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions, implement adaptation strategies and build climate resilience across Southeast Florida. The compact hosts the summit “to share knowledge, showcase climate action, engage leadership across sectors and mobilize the collaboration needed to tackle this significant challenge at scale,” according to its website.
The Invading Sea has published pieces on summit panels about South Floridaās designation as a Climate Resilience Tech Hub and the use of artwork to inspire climate action and activism. In the video below, Colin Polsky, who heads the FAU Center for Environmental Studies and is founding director of the university’sĀ School of Environmental, Coastal, and Ocean Sustainability (ECOS), provides more information about the summit and the tech hub designation.
